Sold out Luncheon raises $100,000 for Teen Trafficking Victims
The weather was crazy on the day of our luncheon! Despite a tornado warning, fierce rain, and flooded streets in downtown Houston, our supporters came out to hear Lance and Cara Berkman speak. We had a full house at our annual luncheon! We were so blessed by everyone who braved the weather and helped us raise $100,000 for trafficked teens in Houston.
Lance and Cara Berkman (seated), our keynote speakers, had our audience rolling with laughter, and at the same time, shared about raising four daughters and God’s view and design of women. Edd Hendee was the emcee, and Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez was an honored guest. Julie Waters, founder and director, shared about the impact that Free the Captives has had on trafficked teens in Houston. The hard work of luncheon co-chairs, Lisa Blackard and Kelley Reid, ensured that this lovely and meaningful event was sold out. People who attended were educated and empowered to get involved in fight human trafficking.
