Greetings from Vietnam! Where yours truly is jetlagged and celebrating Ladies’ Day, March 8 (Also known as International Women’s Day…but here in Vietnamthey call it Ladies’ Day so we are going with the flow!) To honor the women in Vietnam they are feted with flowers and lipsticks.
You too in the US can celebrate Ladies’ Day on March 8! You can either take $8 off your 5K registration by using the code LADIESDAY8 or you can donate $8 to Free the Captives.
You can get a gift or give a gift! Or do both! Either way, let’s celebrate the amazing young ladies at Free the Captives. They are amazing teen survivors of a horrific crime, and we are proud of their strength and fortitude.

So why I am in Vietnam? I am taking my mom so that she can visit her family for the FIRST time since 1975. This is a huge trip for her, and I am getting to meet my family members for the first. It is a momentous occasion! So if I don’t respond to your emails right away, I am tucked away in a remote Vietnamese village eating pho and riding a motorbike, trying not to die. If I don’t respond to your email at all, blame it on the motorbike…
Here’s a pic of my mom, eating our first breakfast in Vietnam after a grueling 26 hour flight. She wishes you a “Happy Ladies’ Day, too!”
3rd Annual Freedom Fest & 5K
Be a SuperHero for Freedom!
There are prizes for the fastest runners and for the best costumes! There will also be a HUGE free festival afterwards with live music, free food (BBQ, tamales, desserts & more!), and free games and inflatables. It will be a great time for the family. The festival is open to non-5K participants. Come learn about human trafficking!
Also, help us get the word! Can you post the following to social media or forward this email to your friends? Feel free to personalize the wording and tag us on your posts!
Be a Voice for Trafficked Children in Houston
What sets Free the Captives apart from most other anti-trafficking groups in Houston is the fact that we work specifically with children.

- Bridgepoint Bible Church, 13277 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079
